Psychiatric evaluation for treatment:

An Initial psychiatric interview is focusing on the details of presenting complaints, other components of history, a thorough mental state exam and additional information necessary to formulate a bio-psycho-social assessment, diagnoses and treatment plan.

 Duration: 90-120 Min

Psychiatric evaluation for weight loss:

Research confirms that psychiatric evaluation before a weight loss procedure improves the chances of completion of pre-procedural requirements and post-procedural outcome. Psychiatric assessment as a referral from a bariatric team or directly by a patient focuses on evaluating person’s readiness for the treatment, understanding of the treatment procedure, expectation of the outcome, strengths and willingness to follow up with pre-and-post procedural requirements to experience optimal treatment outcome. At the end of the evaluation, Dr. Gandhi would recommend the steps to optimize the weight loss procedure outcome.
Duration: 90-120 Min

Medication management/ Pharmacological management:

Current psychiatric research and treatment guidelines suggest that medication management alone is not the optimal treatment approach to the majority of psychiatric conditions. However, Pharmacological management is an essential part of treatment in many conditions such as ADHD, Severe Depression, Severe Anxiety and OCD. Dr. Gandhi practices current evidence-based psychopharmacology and would discuss the details of treatment options when required.
In each session, Dr. Gandhi will carefully evaluate the individual for potential adverse reactions, side effects, drug-drug interactions and will coordinate with other prescribers when necessary.
Duration: 20-30 minutes follow-ups

Family therapy:

Psychiatric or psychological conditions many times affect the family, causing conflicts that worsen the family dynamics further interfering with the treatment outcome. The goal of family therapy is to improve the interactions between family members, leading to an improvement in the functioning of the family as a unit and individuals in the family. Family therapy is also a standard treatment recommendation in multiple child psychiatric conditions.
